Gianmarco Mancosu

Secretary

British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Advanced Study, University of London. He obtained his first PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Cagliari (2015) and a second PhD in Italian Studies from the University of Warwick (2020).
His research interests include the history and culture of colonial and post-colonial Italy, the history of audiovisual media and propaganda, memories of colonialism in modern and contemporary Italy, and Italian communities in Italy’s former colonies. He has published extensively on these topics: his books include Vedere l’impero. L’Istituto Luce e il colonialismo fascista (2022, winner of the 2023 ‘Opera Prima’ prize of the Italian Society for Modern and Contemporary History SISSCO), and the edited volume L’Italia e il mondo post-coloniale. Politica, cooperazione e mobilità tra decolonizzazioni e guerra fredda (2023). He has taught and conducted research at institutions and universities in Italy (Cagliari, Sassari) and the UK (Warwick, Manchester, Cambridge).
