ASMI-supported seminar – Comunità coloniali nel Mediterraneo tra l’Unità e l’occupazione della Libia (Turin, 12–13 March 2026)
We are pleased to share, on behalf of the organisers, the programme and details of the ASMI-supported event “Comunità coloniali nel Mediterraneo tra l’Unità e l’occupazione della Libia”. This international SISSCO seminar will take place on 12–13 March 2026 at the Campus Luigi Einaudi, University of Turin.
The seminar explores the formation, practices and imaginaries of “colonial communities” in the Mediterranean area between Italian Unification and the occupation of Libya, bringing together scholars working on Italian, Mediterranean and imperial history.
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Nicola Labanca (Università di Siena), titled Tempi e spazi del colonialismo italiano nel Mediterraneo. The seminar will conclude with remarks by M’hamed Oualdi (European University Institute), whose work on Mediterranean and North African histories offers a broader transnational and comparative perspective.
The full programme is available in the attached file.
